Default Help, bought a 96, think the tranny slips!

Hello,

I am a new member, and new the the jeep game. I just bought a 96 Grand Cherokee Limited. Its fully loaded with Quatra Track, has 196kms, paid $2800. I put in a new windshield, shocks, cat back exhaust since it needed a muffler, and a few other ods and ends.

It is for my wife, so she took it for her first drive last night. She started it up and pulled out of the driveway. When she got on the throttle hard the tranny slipped. She let off and stepped back in a bit lighter and it was fine.

I put about 200 kms on th ejeep before she drove it and it was fine. I never got on th ethrottle until it was warmed up though.

Is my tranny on its last leg or is there anything I can do? Can the bands be adjusted? I was planning on taking it to a tranny shop for a service anyways.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Both the front and rear bands can be adjusted on the 42RE and the 44RE. Sometimes all they may need if a fluid and filter change though. PM me if you want instructions on how to adjust the bands.
