Default Front end for 93 Grand Cherokee

HI.

I have a sloppy front end (in my GC), and have had just about everything changed. Still not tight and I don't feel comfortable. I get a shimmy when I hit bumps at highway speeds and when turning even at low speeds

If I replace the front end, what is the latest year I can swap in without any modifications?

Can I put in a later verision with Pwr Rack and Pinion???

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks,

Sam

Most shops do not check the track bar on your front end properly. They lift your ZJ up, and tell you everything is tight, and the techs usually send you on your way pissed off because your complaint is not fixed. Here is the usual culprit, go outside, on a sunny day, the reason I say this, is so you don't get wet on a rainy one :D.

Have a friend help you, and go to the front of your Jeep. Trun the key to the Acc. position, and have a friend turn the steering wheel. You should see all the components turn in the steering. There is a bar called the track bar, that is connected to the passenger side of the axle BEHIND the steering. It starts right below the passenger side coil spring. You will see the other side of it, goes up and over the axle to the driver side Subframe of the truck. This bar CANNOT be checked on a hoist. it needs to be checked on the ground. I guarantee you, most shops check it on a poster hoist, and not a drive on. In other words, it needs to have the suspension loaded.

Back to the test, have your friend wiggle the steering wheel lightly. Where this bar connects to the frame, or axle... if theres any movement at all.. it requires replacing. Hope this helps, Dougy.
