Default Cold air intake

I have a 98 Grand Cherokee Limited 5.2 Litre. I already put a Flow master and a K&N stock replacment filter into it and liked the improvments in power. When you get a 4" high flow cone filter made by Airaid for free why not?
My Dad gave the filter to me and I wanted to continue with the free part of this build. I am a Sheetmetal tradesmen and work with all other trades that could help me with parts needed to make it work. First I picked up a piece of 3.5" conduit from the Electricians for the tube portion. Next I hit up the Plumbers for a coupling and a pipe hanger nut. The filter is 4" intlet and the conduit was 3.5" so a thick seal for a victalic flange from the Sprinkler fitters filled the void. Of course some scrap sheetmetal came from me.
Out with the factory air box.

Default Re: Cold air intake

I used the factory air box bolt holes and up along the wheel well body seem to bolt the box in. There is a hole under the box that I filled in, I want the air to only come in the seventh slot in the grill beside to rad.

Thats as far as I got for now. I will be insulating the engine side of the box and adding gasket one the top to seal it to the hood. The insulation I'll get from work and the gasket from our parts cherokee tail gate.
I have taken it for a good rip down the road and up the highway and the differance is instanly noticable. It feels smooth at regular starts but if you put your foot into it she throws you into your seat and the roar from under the hood sounds good to. I think my fuel mileage will go down just cause I can't help but stomp on it.
Once I feel up to it I will make a new boot for the throttle body.
