Default 2000 Grand Cherokee Limited

Hello to every one of the Jeep lovers here. I have recently purchased my 2000 GC and have a problem with the 10 Cd changer. I have tried homemade mp3 discs as well as store bought discs in the player (located in the compartment in the right rear of the cargo area) and receive an 'err" message when trying to play either type. I did try flipping them around as well and got the same result. Any advice?

Addition to this... I have gotten the player to work intermittently where it will play a cd once, then when you try to play it a second time it will come up with the "err" message. Are these types of players prone to wearing out in some way throwing off the alignment perhaps or is it an ambient problem eg. cold, moist conditions?

Check out the TSB list at www.wjjeeps.com
I think I saw something in there about CD changers.

Update: the changer does work most of the time, can get it to play mp3 also. I just think that it is old and wearing out. Will probably look for a new one on ebay. I found that if "err" comes up on the display all I have to do jump to the next cd and then back to the other and it seems to help considerably with the situation.
I would also like to share a little experience I had with mine yesterday that may save someone out there a few bucks. The engine was hunting (500 - 1500 rpm), it felt like the tranny was slipping, the check engine light was on and the fuel guage was pinned to the "overfull" position. I was told that as long as the check engine light was not flashing, all I had to do was make 3 good trips with the vehicle and it would reset itself,as it was probably just a glitch in the system. But don't do what the guy did with the PT Cruiser with the same problem. He ignored the flashing light a melted his engine into one giant ball of metal. Ouch!

Could be as simple as dust/dirt in the cd changer box...mine is on its way out and will produce the ERR message sometimes when its really hot out. The player should not have problems with burned CDs .

Also, not sure who told you to just keep driving and it will reset, but most times if all of a sudden your idle is hunting and the Jeep feels less responsive, its probably due to a problem that is not just going to solve its self.
