Canada New member, 2007 Commander Limited 5.7

Hi there,
New member from BC. Looking around web and found this forum. Commanders do not seem to be well represented here but just a note that I love mine. Getting 15 mpg average from hemi city and hwy. Very happy but having difficulty finding service manuals. Any suggestions. Having problems with radio display and I would like to dig in a little to check wiring etc.
Thanks
Tom

The Commander sector is a new area, so as to separate those with the Grand and Commander it was implemented on the request of a couple of members. So enjoy. And Welcome to the site.

The commander is mechanically very similar to the grand cherokee of the same era and as such probably has some of the same quirks. One of the things that happens is the bulbs in the centre dash panel burn out. They're soldered onto the board, which is a pain in the butt. There are ways to replace them without having to change out the whole thing. There are how to's on the net, I have links to them if you need them.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. What I am trying to resolve is the display screen on my radio is out. It comes back intermittently and then goes off again. it is about a 4 x 7 screen and handles the stereo, CD and DVDs and navigation, and back up camera. A lot to miss. I really use the back up camera and it has saved me several times. It seems like a loose connection or chip. I would like to strip back to the radio a little to check on any obvious problems. I could really use a service manual.
Thanks
Tom

I've looked for a service manual online for either a wk or xj (they are so similar that either would be good) but had no luck. Friend of mine bought a manual on cd, it worked for a year and then would do nothing, I suspect is was a bit of a scam as it looked a lot like the michels manuals the garages use, and required internet access to work.

Jeep Grand Cherokee WK - Interior trim removal

The above link will show you how to access the radio and remove the trim.

Look through the whole thing before you start as there were two trim versions on the mk but the xj has a one piece trim so you have to get the sequence right to prevent damaging stuff.

I pulled mine apart last weekend to change bulbs, pulling apart was easy, changing bulbs was a different story.

Tom,

A great website we have available is http://www.techauthority.com

You can search for wiring diagram manuals, service manuals and just about everything you need.

Yes, there are costs for this but remember you own them (either the CD or manual) and can use them at your leisure.

Oh, and welcome!
