Woah! Everyone else seems to have a 5.7 motor, I feel very inferior!
Does anyyone know how to reprogram the oil change warning interval? Mine was set to 3000km and i would like 10000 or 12000Km. I know how to turn the warning off but not how to change the interval

2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal slowly three times within 10 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF/LOCK position.
works for JK's, should work for you.

I need to extend the period before the warning comes on - it is currently only 3000km, whereas the service book states the normal interval is 12000km. Any ideas?

Mike,
Just took a look at the online version of your maintenance booklet Chrysler Canada Owners
On here it shows your interval being 6 months or 10,000 KM, whichever comes first.
Now our monitoring systems may activate this "oil chance required" or "change oil" sooner if some conditions are experienced with your Commander.
- Extreme temps (Cold <0C or Hot >32C)
- Stop-and-go-driving
- Prolonged idling
- Short trips (less than 16KM)
If your light is coming on much sooner (3000 KM) there might be a fault in the system.
There is no way to change the interval of when the light is supposed to come on.
Hope this helps!

Re: 2008 Commander 3.7 Mike653
Why thanks. This sounds plausible as I do a fair bit of short journeys but even if I do a long run like Toronto and back (1200kms) it still always triggers at 3000km.
A real test will be when we drive to Alberta in June - then I will know for sure that there is something wrong with the system if there is no change in the interval - possibly resulting from a default setting to the lowest (safest) value

Could very well be something like that, honestly I can't say I've heard of any issues with the oil change monitor however that doesn't mean the dealers haven't. Keep an eye on it and remember, physically checking the dipstick is still the best way to ensure everything is OK.
