Starting problem?
Hey,I have a perplexing problem I'm sure one of you guys can help. In order to start my Jeep, I have to turn the key halfway until I hear a buzzing underneath the dash, right under the steering column. It seems to be priming, I know there's a relay there and what looks like 2 silver globes to the right of it. The only way to get it started is to let this buzz for about a minute, otherwise the engine won't turn over. I want to get it fixed but want to know what I'm dealing with first.

This isn't helping you a bit , but , when I had and was on my Astro/Safari Van site that I owned for 32 years they helped me a lot. As I'm so new to this site but not new to Jeepin' there is someone here that will help you. Another "but"...I had a brand new 1978...CJ-7...and a brand new 1979 CJ-5 the 7 I didn't like...A LOT
i've heard of this happening a lot with the 99-01 models as well. i turn my key on before starting it anyway, but there is no buzz. i forget what the problem actually was with those models to cause this.. i'll try to find it.
good luck

Will it turn over before the minute is up? if so i'd say mybe fuel pump or a bad fuel pump relay. If u can't turn it over with the switch, i would say the switch its self or a starter relay. Did u check your fuel or spark to see if they are o.k?
