Im looking for some info about switching my auto-trans AW4 to a standard-trans AX15.

Im mostly concerned about the electronic computer stuff involving the switch sence i dont know much about auto-computers. i dont know if the AW4s computer has anything to do with the engine or not. most i can figure is the reverse lights would have to be rewired so that reverse trigers lights.

Im in need to know if once i switch transmissions, is if the throtle or anything invalving that is controled by the transmission computers for any reason while shifting, if so, how? what do i need to do to correct computer so it runs like a standard should.


I know everyone says that the AW4 is a great transmission, It Totally Is, but I live in BC. The AW4 just doesnt cut it for shifting in 4-Hi/4-Low and driving under 90km in any range, unless you stomp on it... Gasmilage is poor aswell, with no overdrive switch, driving at 60-90km it just lugs.

Did you think about doing the shifter/computer mod?

There are a lot of write ups on the mod. Can give you control over the transmission.

Im not going to do any mods with this Aw4 transmission... Im just going to sell it and use my AX15 insted. unless you talking about shifting mods for standard..
