hi there. i got a line on a 1989 jeep cherokee xj limited trim with sunroof. from what i see in the pictures it looks to be in excelent condition no rust and no dents are mentioned. it has 30,000 original kilometers. garage kept alot so it sais the asking price is 9,000 color red. is the price fair? id like to think for the age the price is a little high. leather seats on a gray interior and a full transfer case. is there anything i should look for? warnings? cautions? i have owned a 1992 jeep cherokee and it has been extremely reliable other then things like starter and alternator but from personal experience it has been very reliable on and off road. id like to get everyones opinion on this sale as i like the vehicle but i feel the price is high

please share any thoughts or opinions as to what you would price a vehicle like this

What a find that is, I live on the East Coast,and I own a 1989 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer, Model Series just under the Limited. I purchased this Pioneer on Vancouver Island just outside Victoria in May 2005. When I got it it had 172800 klms, but it was clean, and gave every indication of having been well maintained. Well, with a bit of apprehension,loaded up and headed across Canada. It performed flawlessly , not even a hiccup, and 23mpg overall average.I have used it for the last eight years with minimal mechanical repairs, exhaust system,one front hub and just recently rear pinion seal. It presently has 226500klms. It has been most reliable and does not have the luxury of being garaged. I just drove it down to Florida, runs like a top.

So, Ryan, don't pass up on this Cherokee for the sake of a few thousand dollars. With only 30,000klms, it's practically new. You say it's clean, and in great shape. It's worth $9,000. If it has tires that are 8=10 years old, you might negotiate a new set included in that price. I think you'd never regret getting it.

That's awesome you are very lucky, but driveing them is good for them and being garaged alot of almost 24 years things start to go like the seals on them they are corck if thats the spelling and hoses aswell
Could be costly to fix every seal on the entire vehicle could go after driving it perfectly for a year 9000$ is way to much for that type of vehicle

30k is awesome but you're right, a 24 year old XJ will need quite a bit of help to get going again. Could possibly need everything rubber or plasticy (think fuel pump & tank). The one good thing going for it is that such a barely used Renix will probably not come with corrosion on the C101 connector, etc. Not worth $9k though for a vehicle where parts are becoming hard to find.
