Default Cross USA trek

Hey Guys,

I hope I'm not abusing the forum rules by posting this question in the wrong place, but I was wondering if you could help me out with something. I'm currently in Ontario Canada getting ready to move back to California. I plan on driving my 97' Cherokee sport all the way. Do you guys have any recommendations on what I should get checked out at the mechanics before I go. Also, would it be a good idea to pick up some spare parts at a junkyard, for stuff that might typically go out? Any advice or ideas, or even reasons why I shouldnt drive my Cherokee across the U.S. would be much appreciated. Thanks a lot guys.

hey, sounds like a great trip. good tires all round at proper pressure for the highway, full size spare, all the gear needed to change that spare tire, spare belt or belts with tools to change it, change or check all fluids before the trip and take spare with you, something to carry water in if you need to fill a rad, ensure your battery is good, a general tune up ie. plugs/cap/rotor/fuel & air filtres...i guess the list goes on and on. a 97 is not old, if it's in good shape i can't think of a single reason not to do the trip. all this work you can do yourself. enjoy the trip and travel safe. shinny side up
