Canada changing a water pump

newbie here guys, first post. seen some coolant leakage when i was leaving my friends house. he suggested it might be the water pump. I did't have time to trace the source today but my reservoir is topped up and I carry a jug with me. I'm new to doing my own repairs, but I have the giant manual for the 1997 cherokee, any tips on how i can go about this in the best way? I have some relatively free time and a new socket set. thanks alot guys

B/4 u start using ur new sockets, try and find out exactly where its leaking. A hose may be cracked or the clamps need a little tightening, could be u overfilled the reservoir and its spitting out the top or the rev is cracked. Cud be the rad thats at fault. Lets hear what you have alimented.

well, it's not leaking anymore. I tried to trace the source and I can't even find any suspect places. I've left that alone for now. I've moved my ignorance on to the knocking sound that permeates from the bottom of the vehicle, the exhaust specifically. Whenever I start or stop the Kah, or take a rough bump or corner, i can hear the exhaust pipe knocking against the cross member the spans the bottom, side to side. the muffler clamp for the muffler and cat converter was completely rusted, so i cut it off, and replaced it, the hanger is also still in place. i got a friend to start the Kah while i was holding that pipe, and the noise ceased. i can't see any cracks, dents or anything like that. kinda clueless, having a good time though.

Next time u go replacing a muffler on a XJ put on a Cdn Tire 'CHERRY BOMB' (nice bright red in color) allot lighter compacted nice cool holly sound cost u on sale $30. and lasts for a few years. The clamps at the rear near the gas tank come loose or rust and bang against the tank, also if ur still having problem the clamp mid way down which is embedded into a hard rubber, it can be bent away from the frame a little to help stop a pipe from hitting the frame.
(the sound on the cherry bomb if u have a 6 cy and is automatic it will sound real nice if its a std yu won't hear the sound quite as much)

I had it on my 89 cherokee after I was told about them, as they are a much better fit than the original ones much lighter and allot cheaper. The sound as I mentioned above isn't loud enuff to awaken a cop either. Furtherance to that post I have a complete piping here from the manifold to the tail pipe complete if anyones in need of it let me know, then the problem comes getting it to you if ur not near Mtl.
