99 Cherokee 4.0 Alternator
Hi, it looks like my alternator has decided to quit and I'm trying to find which alternators fit my Jeep or what are these like to rebuild. I have been having problems for the last couple of days, the check gauge light would come on with the charging gauge at 0 and restarting it would sometime go to 11 and then kick up to 14 or go to 0. I could usually get it to 14 with another restart but now it just goes to 11 and and then to 0 with the check gauge light coming on. I've reset the cpu with no changes so I'm looking for either a rebuilt kit or another alternator. Of course this happens with all the stores closed..

Cdn Tire or Car Quest.is your best bet for a rebuilt one (they will take ur old one) Most don't rebuild it anymore found trying to find a kit ends up as costly as a rebuilt from the store
OR you can try a scrap yard - When I had my (89 xj) that's where I was able to pick one up from

Re: 99 Cherokee 4.0 Alternator
Thanks for the suggestion. I had checked first thing this morning since I needed to get the jeep back on the road. The price for a rebuilt from Partsource is $268 plus tax so I gave a call to a shop that I thought was closed and got a rebuilt for $100 plus tax. This shop builds my upgraded alternator for my summer car, he's good and stands behinds his work. I also like to buy from small shops like that so the money isn't headed offshore. The shop's name is Victoria Starter & Alternator and is in Kitchener

Glad you got fixed up, I agree with the small guy if he is good do business with him and pass his name around..Next time someone is looking for an alternator/starter I will pass his name along.
