4wd won't engage
Hi All,
I have a 2001 XJ with 110k on the clock.
It has an auto tranny with command trac. NP231 if I'm not mistaken. Its a newer XJ so it doesn't have the vaccuum disconnect on the front axle.
I throw it in 4wd every once in a while to keep the juices flowin'
I tried the other day and it wouldn't fully engage. It felt like it was part way engaged and not so good noises were coming from the transfer case.
Any ideas?
There's also a noise coming from the t-case section that I thought was a bad transmission mount. I replaced the mount and still have the same knocking noise. TO describe the noise better think if the rubber isolator had mostly deteriorated on the tranny mount and you had metal on metal bouncing up and down. This is why I thought it was the mount but now I'm thinking that it could be something in the t-case?
not sure what's going on. :(
