1998 jeep cherokee sport 3" lift
Hi there I am ready to lift my jeep. Im going to do 3 inches. And i was wondering what i would all need. I'm going to buy rear add a leafs and front lift coils. I was wondering if longer brake lines, drop pitman arm, adjustable control arm, longer shocks, and transfer case drop kit are all necessary. and how bout with my driveshaft is it long enough? was wondering if i could just get away with doing just the add a leafs and lift springs. If im missing anything please let me know.

Re: 1998 jeep cherokee sport 3" lift
You wont need anything other than shocks and brake lines front and rear. I have a Home made 4 inch lift and I only did the shocks and brake line and I get full flex with no problems. If you go over 4.5 inches then install a SYE and don't bother with the T case drop you lose some ground clearance. If you want to do a buget lift get the Front coils out of a V8 ZJ that will give you about 3.5 to 4 inches after they settle. The rear leafs can be added to if you get some from the scrap yard and go for the longest ones and get them wrapped so they don't come apart. The only other thing you will need is a sway bar drop bracket, You can look it up on line and Fab one up yourself in about 1 hour and save cash.... Hope this helps

Re: 1998 jeep cherokee sport 3" lift
Thanks. My leafs are shot and im getting brand new factory ones for 120 a piece. You think I'd be better with add a leafs or blocks. And I know that people say max 31" tires. But I was wondering if 32" or 33's would work
|
Re: 1998 jeep cherokee sport 3" lift
stay away from the blocks AXLE WHIP and you wont want that on the trail.....120 for 2 sets yes but if you are paying 129 per side HOLY CRAP that`s expensive out here it's 165 for both packs. I run 31's so I can get as much flex and still hammer the inner fenders front and rear, If you go to a 32/33 tire you will be cutting your fenders. I personaly hate add a leaf I get mine arc'd and went long leafs to keep the rear end from sagging and have has no problems... Good luck and get that Heep out and Wheel it

Re: 1998 jeep cherokee sport 3" lift
Where you from? 120 a pair is really cheap I thought. Oem leafs they were asking 400 each. I don't go riding. So don't care too much about flex. Just want some clearance for bigger wheels. And so I don't get hung up anymore as easily atleast lol

Re: 1998 jeep cherokee sport 3" lift
From the Wet Coast BC :).... If your just going for the Mall Rated Jeep then you should be good for the 33's

Re: 1998 jeep cherokee sport 3" lift
if your leaf springs are as bad as u say they are u might want to spend the extra cash and get the kit with the new springs over just the add a leaf
|
Re: 1998 jeep cherokee sport 3" lift
I am getting that kit in the link with the leafs. I'm just wondering if I buy that kit if I have to buy anything else with it. Or could u get away with just what the kit comes with
|
Re: 1998 jeep cherokee sport 3" lift
you get
Front coil springs front lower control arms transfer case drop kit swaybar links brake line relocating brackets (4) RC Hydro 8000 series shocks and rear add-a-leafs and shackles or u can upgrade to a full leaf package |
Re: 1998 jeep cherokee sport 3" lift
I know what I get with the kit. Im new to lifting and
Im just wondering if I would need anything besides those Parts that the kit comes with. Like would I need the drive shaft kit? Pitman arm? |
Re: 1998 jeep cherokee sport 3" lift
i would say u likely would need
Adj. Front Trac Bar NP231 slip yoke eliminator kit. and more then likely a longer pitman arm |
Re: 1998 jeep cherokee sport 3" lift
I ended up getting the rough country 3" kit with spring packs. I'm extremely happy with the kit. Installed the whole thing myself with no major problems other than rear shock bolts breaking( easy fix tho). Gonna order tires soon and a mechanical locker for the rear. Thanks for all the help guys
