new to this place
....but not new to Jeeps. My name is Jon, and for better or worse, I've been a Jeep luver for some time. I've been around them my entire life, and from the first time I drove a Jeep (I was about 8 when my dad let me drive in the woods :p), I was hooked.
Having worked for Chry Corp, I like all things mopar.

Re: new to this place
thanks for the welcome. Well, I buy and sell (and maybe have a little fun in between) just as a hobby, so I've had a few Jeeps and just about everything else. I sold my mint Gr.Cherokee 318 Limited a while back, but am currently working on a nice little 95 Gr.C 4L with a buddy. It's mostly stock to the time being, but doesn't stop us from havin fun with it. I am also on the look out for a 98 5.9 (had one back in the day...was so much fun), but finding a clean low kms one is next to impossible around here.
Cars are kinda of a fetish of mine, so I have a few kicking around. My other toys include a Neon ACR, and a little Dakota w/ a 5.9, just to name a couple. My daily driver currently is a 300

haha, yeah, I have a soft spot for ZJs I guess you could say. My true love lies with the XJs, but I found that rust has taken most of them over the years (besides for the 97+).....and plus, the ZJs offered V8 power, which is always nice, so I kinda gravitated towards them.

Re: new to this place
97-99 are the best years of XJs anyway. 2000+ they had cracking heads and cracking manifolds and 96 and earlier all had d35s except for the 89?s and earlier that had D44 rears
There are quite a few pre-97 era XJs in good shape but they are sort of tough to find and you have to be picky.
I do like the V8 but I like a I6 stroker better :D lol

Re: new to this place
yeah, I wanted a 97-99, but the few solid ones I found were big bucks. On the east coast, I have yet to find a pre 96 with a decent floor and its original rocker panels. Even 97s+ are starting to get rough looking around here....probably because we use a lot of salt in the winter. "Solid" Cherokees 97+ are still bringing $4k, regardless of mileage...so when I saw this cheap/clean ZJ, we picked it up. After it gets a mild lift, it'll probably get stroked out. ;)

Hey Jon, Welcome to the board.
I hear ya on just about everything you've said haha
I picked up a 93 ZJ when i was down in the states, completely rust free! only problem was what i couldn't see (just about everything internally was trashed) so im on the lookout for a ZJ that can get me thru the winter, and make a trek to North Carolina where i can donate the powertrain basically... (and Gauges lol)
Im up on the North Shore, and everything is rusted out... but just a skip across the river into Quebec
Now the girlfriend has had a decent bit of luck with her car out of Nova Scotia, its a 04 Grand Am and is practically rust free... not sure who previously owned it or how they kept it... but as far as i can tell they seem to be a bit easier on the salt, and its pretty much where im looking to pick my next vehicle up from
