Angry Just bought 07 2WD Patriot and Regretting It . . .

Hi Everyone,

Just bought an 07 2WD Patriot for my daughter. She's had it two weeks. I was really impressed with the drivetrain when I test drove it on dry roads before purchasing it. So we went for it. Today, I drove it on roads with a bit of snow and ice on them and what a different vehicle. I've never experienced the floaty, out of control feeling I'm experiencing with the Patriot. Gives me almost a seasick feeling. Constantly feels like the vehicle is on verge of spinning out. Somethings not right.

I've noticed that the suspension on the rear end is very unique - to me at least. Not the typical springs/shocks you normally see.

I was really looking forward to owning this vehicle and now I'm really worried about my decision. Has anyone else experienced this? Has anyone heard of issues with the rear suspension on the 2WD model?

Wish I could give you a better welcome story to introduce myself and my vehicle, but unfortunately, I can't. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Canuckted

I used to have a Patriot, but it was a 4X4, so I can't help you out. I don't remember if they had any major issues with the rear end....Best thing I could suggest is putting some weight in the back (bags of sand or salt), and, if not equipped with some, get good winter tires.

Sorry if I can't help you out more. I hope you'll find a way to enjoy it.

Thanks very much for the kind thoughts! (and wise suggestions) Despite the "flakiness" of the vehicle on snowy roads, it must be "that Jeep thing" that's got into me. The rest of the time I really enjoy it. Before I bought the Patriot, it had been in an accident on the front end I was told. Front struts/shocks, control arms etc. all replaced. Maybe something got missed in repairs from the accident. I guess it's a harsh lesson in "buyer beware." On the plus side though, the gas mileage is amazing for such a spacious vehicle. And I find the acceleration adequate. I'm happy with it to get the great mileage.
All the best,
Canuckted
