Talking Hi y'all! New Jeeper from Brampton, ON

Hi my name is NattysRubi and I'm an addict. Since I was a little girl I've always dreamt of cruising down to Mexico in my topless Jeep.

Well, I haven't been to Mexico yet, but I did just buy my first Jeep. 2013 Rubi Unlimited. This beast was hand picked by yours truly via the web. I called up the local dealer and told them which one I wanted. (I made them go out to Kingston to get it for me :P) LOL

Anyways, I'm not your typical girl. I live in Brampton, ON and I love anything techie, tinkering with computers, fishing, camping, taking care of my houseful of animals (dogs, kids, birds, kids, lizards, husband)

So although I have a love for Jeeps I'm really just a noobie to the sport and I'm very eager to get my hands into some trailing this summer. I'm sure I'll have questions along the way.

Happy Jeeping!

Welcome to the club! I'm also a girl Jeeper and I'm not too far away from you. I have a 2006 TJ. What colour is your Jeep? Do you plan on doing anything to your Jeep or are you leaving it as stock? There are some great trails up in Parry Sound and there's Ganaraska Forest to the east.

Thanks. My baby is jet black. I do want to do some mods but it's new off the line so for now I'm going to do some minor things. For now I'm going to put some Decals/paint of some description. I don't know yet what though. I'm looking at the jeep as though it's a clean slate. I want to make it stand out from all the others but haven't quite figured out how. It's funny because beffore I hardly saw any jeeps out there and now i see them everywhere. lol. I want to put a winch on for no other reason than I like the looks of it and I want some front end lights put on as well.

Later on once it's a bit older I'll put some lifts on it.

Nice! I love the look of an all-black Jeep too. Looks killer. You can choose to do mods or not do any at all. Truth is, Jeeps are built so right that even without mods they're tanks. We put a custom bumper on ours, light guards, a hitch, and a roof rack on the hard top. It came with a grille that we've removed, rear light guards that we've replaced, side boards, and body armor on the rear. I could have done without the body armor but it's on there now so it is what it is. Our Jeep is that light silver colour, which is so bland, and I'm trying to liven it up a bit with all black accessories. What I'd do is just have fun with your Jeep as is for a while. The first thing you should do is get it Rust Checked though. That's a must. Then after a while, if you think you might want to make changes to it, browse around the galleries on the forum or even look at the different parts on the Just Jeeps website (Just Jeeps) and see how the different parts look on the display pics on the site. Sometimes I'll post an idea to the forum and get people's opinions. Just remember though, everyone likes different things and sometimes people forget it's your Jeep and you can do whatever the hell you want to your Jeep. Jeep owners are a passionate bunch!

Thanks. Yes the rust proofing was done before delivery. I have to be careful. I walked into just jeeps and found tonnes of stuff that I would have liked. I can foresee my pay cheques dwindling already. Lol

I'd like to weigh in and say that I will soon be a first jeep owner and I think it's really cool there's alot of female jeepers out there. Hopefully i can get my GF into the seat and teach her how to drive standard too. I don't know if there is alot of trails or not around here, I am originally from the Midland area i know there's alot of back trails for snowmobiles and quads but im' not familiar with much else around here.

I'm sure if she's got any bit of an adventurous side to her you'll manage to get her into it. I just so can't wait. I'm eating and sleeping this thing now.

Oh boy. You bring up a good point. My baby toy isn't a standard. Does that mean i won't be able to get as much out of this? :( i don't even know how to drive a stick.

If you don't know how to drive standard then you would probably struggle trying to take on the trails. I'd suggest driving standard for a while and see if you like it, (learn from someone who owns a stick jeep). If you love it, you'll have more fun on the trails for sure because standard gives better fuel eco and it's cheaper to fix when it breaks, and yes it is faster and delivers more power to the wheels, also more importantly lets you put your torque bands where you need them for offroading.

But im not saying trade in get a stick your better off, but no means is auto terrible offroad. Jeep has decent automatics for offroading, it's just something to consider for your next jeep maybe? But everyone should learn how to drive standard anyways, some people like me believe you've never driven until you've driven stick.

Thanks Bud. As a kid, my dad always told me that. He was coming from the angle that you should learn to drive on a standard and then go to auto if youwant. His reasoning behind that was so that you can drive anything if needed :D

For sure, it does give you a driving advantage in that respect. But the reality is that driving standard it is faster, feels more powerful you feel in control when your really giving her. But otherside of the coin is you need to be really co ordinated when your in traffic. And if you cant stand being in traffic its even worse offroad, you stall offroad you can really get yourself into a bad situation really quickly if your unexperienced. So like i said if you want to go offroad, auto for now is probably alot better for you.
