West Hi y'all from the flatlands

D'uh, guess I forgot to come and introduce meself when I signed up Gord here and I live in the flatlands (Saskatchewanfor those who can't figure it out). I'm by no means new to 4 wheelin', but this is my first Jeep. I recently purchased a 88 Cherokee 4.0/AW4 and I'm pretty damn impressed with it. Engine has been rebuilt with a mild cam and oversize injectors and the Tcase and rear LSD diff have also been done. Right now it sits near stock, but that will be changing soon. Being it's around -30C outside, I ain't doin' sh*t until Spring. No luxury of a heated garage for me. Not a prob though, gives me time to get all the parts I want.

Glad to be a member and hope I might be of some help now and again. Really enjoy the tech stuff. Never can "learn ya sumpin" too much! to all

Hell, -30's before you add in the windchill. We hit -48C with the WC just the other night! That'll freeze the ***** off a charging rhino hahaha The Alberta & Manitoba boys know what I'm talking about. Learned me I need a new battery though!

I don't have any decent photo's yet, just what I got from the original sale ad on Kijiji, hence the nice garage. It's not the best pic. I borrowed my digicam to my sister, but once I get it back, I'll get some of better quality (if I can get all the snow & ice off of it...brrrrrrr). Not sure why, but the colour looks odd in the pic.

The door area is just paint scuffs and a small amount of rust and the front bumper has chips from gravel roads. For the year, I'm really surprised how good of shape the body is in. Minor rust here and there, nothing I can't fix myself. I know it's solid bc I ran a magnet over the whole thing before I bought it. Yeah, I'm a picky beestard hahaha I don't like surprises and I've owned a few 4wheelers in my days and did my homework on the XJ's so I knew what to watch for.

I've done a little playing in the gravel pits with my YJ buddy and I'm amazed what it does in stock form! I could follow him purt much anywhere he went. Slight run at 'er and it climbed a 40% grade covered with snow. Up and over the quad speed bumps and only dragged my hitch a bit once! Impressed the crap out of me I tell ya.

But one thing......Those gold pimpwheels are gone as soon as I find some steels!!

Nice jeep, I had a 89 cherokee for many years till it burnt. You seem to have bad shape bottom doors, mine were the rocker panels full of styafoam.. Removed them completely and with steel made rock rails, and covered the lower doors with diamond plate. You've got a sun roof, wow, I took one from another jeep and put it in, what gearing do you have? Had 3.07 found it cheaper to buy a scrap jeep and change the axles to 3.73 big difference on the trails. Sure like to see your finished product and some spec on it too.Well like u said its not summer yet, so will wait and watch this post from you.

Thanks. Gearing is 3:54 with rear LSD and select trac. Actually the doors are in fairly decent shape. The paint peeling on the trim panels makes it look a lot rougher than it is and the pic really doesn't do it any justice. Some surface rust on the passenger side doors and a small hole in the front one. Nothing I can't fix myself come spring. Rockers are in excellent shape, not even surface rust, but I like the idea of the rock rails and diamond plate though. Not into a pretty truck, just functional. It will just get scratched up in the bush anyway. If you can't use it, why own one right? It's been hovering around -30 to -40 and the windchill tonite is making it like -52. But the weather dudes are saying it's gonna let up soon.....if you can ever believe them hahaha I got some tinkering I want to do and would appreciate even a -20 day.

I have plans on throwing on a 4" lift, 33" tires, custom made bumpers, armor and a winch on a cradle. Nothing too crazy. They're talking about making a 34" max tire size law here in Saskatchewan, so that just might be the biggest I can go anyway. See what happens when the snow starts to melt.
