Easy fix for noisy diffs.
Hey,
Maybe this is not news to many of you, but for sure someone out there is probably fretting over the noisy diffs in their Quadradrive Jeep.
Mine is an '04 G.C. 4.7L V8 with QD and 120K km. The diff. oils were changed as recommended at 115K, and soon afterward this grinding, binding, scuffing noise started from the front diff. Sounded like the tires were crabbing around slow turns.
The dealer's mechanic explained that was in fact what was happening. The VC's were grabbing with the new oil. He put in some more limited slip additive, and it has been fine since.....smooth & quiet. Cost - $10.
