Talking Is Your Jeep Prepaired?

Recently I've been watching this great show on history channel called "Doomsday Preppers", not I'm not saying I am a prepper but I got to thinking, do other people think about there jeep as a relyable escape vehicle if anything ever happened?

So here is my question on to you; do you think your jeep is prepaired for a global wide or national wide emergency? Could you survive the carnage of collaposed buildings or shifted earth?

If not what kind of mods are you going to or would like to do to prep your jeep for the unthinkable?

I was watching that show and was amazed by the stupidity of some of those people. Thay wasting all their life and time , building shelters, making daily plans, stockpiling on food etc. If sh...t really happened it have to be of epic proportions that one will need such detailed preparations, and due to size of that cataclysmic disaster no shelter or prepping would mean much to you.. One big booom and we are all history.

As per Jeep being adequate escape vehicle, No much difference that any other vehicle.

Prepping on that scale is just Paranoia on mega size proportions.American standard.

As long as you make sure you keep the tank nearly full and the four wheel drive is working you'll be in good shape. a roll of duck tape, a good rope and a roll of toilet paper would also be a good idea.

The question is: Where or why would you leave your home anyway? Roads would be roadblocked by all those people leaving in panic. In state of War, the governments have right to seize your vehicle if it is suitable to be used for military purpose. so being on the road in the nice 4x4 would probably leave you walking very soon.

I agree, every home should all ways have non perishable food items, bottled water etc.few tanks of gas for bbq, some batteries and candles, bottle of rum or JD :) But stockpiling for more than week or two is waste of time.

Also in case of nuclear attack within 100 km, every vehicle and anything with electronics inside will not work anyway.

In case of Civil unrest or monetary collapse, all of the above to be stockpiled and stay inside your home. Being out in the open is not good idea.

I like that idea! Duct Tape for sure, need a few of them. Good rope is always a must for sure!

I am not talking about a war situation, I am talking about mother nature back handing us. If there was a series of high velocity tornadoes or an earth quake or flood or anything really. I feel safer knowing I got a 4x4 and I could drive further then someone in a conventional vehicle could. Believe me I would be out of toronto before the road blocks go up, if they want my vehicle they'll have to kill me.

Oh of course, I was just elaborating some instances where the stockpiling would be effective, and Yes in the mother nature scenario, our Jeeps would be more effective than other vehicles.

As per State of War declaration, Yes refusing to cooperate and handling over your vehicle would be considered hostile in nature, but most likely you wouldn't be shot. just arrested in thrown into camp.

Chances if we went to war most of us would be conscripted into joining anyways, the Canadian army isn't exactly bursting with people. So in that instance, I would probably be enlisted. Not sure about stockpiling myself.. I think that I am resourceful enough that I could get my own food and live off the land in a remote location if I had to.

+1 keeping your Jeep in tip-top trail shape is a good place to start. A lot of the "Advanced Trail Gear" lists pretty much cover any situations you'll attempt to tackle. Global thermonuclear warfare notwithstanding lol.

Or you could be like this guy:

Heroic Jeep That Rescued People After A Tornado Is Getting A Rebuild

(I wonder if Jalopnik has a shortage of proofreaders....)

Well it's a good thing Jeeps don't need roads, then, isn't it?

I have 2 bug out bags both with enough to survive for several days completewith first aid, water purification, ammunition, etc. There is always a rifle and a sshotgun close by ready to go. Jeep is equipped well, jugs of purified water in the garage by the door. I'm as prepared as I'm going to get for a 'get up and run like hell' situation.
