YJ/TJ Fenders
Here's a question of sorts which has been bugging me and a few others for a long time.
The TJ 2003 along with other Jeeps and years The passenger fender rusts out on the flat (top) while the drivers fender lasts. Looking underneath on the passenger side there is an area of extra steel only in part of the undercarriage. On the drivers side this undercarriage isn't there. Why is this on the passenger side? What purpose does it have? Besides make the fender rust as moisture gets in between the 2 pieces of metal. I will be repairing this piece and need to know the reason this extra piece is there, as if not necessary it will be removed..

It's not just an empty space. There is some stupid foam between the 2 pieces of sheet metal that retains water.
And it does exist on the drivers side as well. I can confirm this because I just cut my fenders off so that I could install custom flat fenders.
