Default TJ Master and Slave Cyclinder Replacment?

Hey all,
quick question for anyone who knows, I have a 99 tj 4l manual, clutch is shot. I bought a new clutch kit for it, was talking to my mechanic about the job, he said make sure you have a new master and slave cylinder as well, do I really need to replace those as well?
Thanks

You don't HAVE TO, But since your down working on all that, might as well for the Slave. How did the clutch go in the first place?
