TJ or JK
thinking of buying a Rubicon.
Is there any good reasons to go with the JK over the TJ ? there seems to be a few low mileage TJ Rubicon's around and I would have to pay around $10,000 more for a JK with the same mileage.... |
Re: TJ or JK
I've been mulling that same question over too.
My deterents to the JK is the engine size(s) available, Its new so if I dent, scratch, it better something I can fix easily or its gonna cost an arm and a leg. Dunno, comes down to personal choice. |

Re: TJ or JK
i would go with a tj because there more manuverable in the trails, very easy to work on, they last a long time and they look better. i have a 95 yj and i love it, it will turn around in any trail lots of fun.

Re: TJ or JK
what about engine output to weight ?
inline 6 or the v6 in the JK ? |
Re: TJ or JK
in line 6 has proven itself over the years..I won't say more.

Re: TJ or JK
I went out last weekend with a couple TJ and JK and the TJ seems a lot better. The JK is all made of plastic the bumpers and all side moulding. Try pushing on a JK and all you find plastic. TJ all the way.

For the love of God, Goatee! Think! Think! of all the mods you could do to your TJ with 10K and Think! of all the money left over for beer, babes and beaches. Also, unless you're paying cash Think! of all the monthly payments that you'll avoid by going with a TJ. The choice is obvious!! |
Re: TJ or JK
yep...the TJ seems to make more sence:beerchug:
will be gathering as much information on the TJ Rubicon and possible mods for the next short while... I tend to take some time to spend my own cash. thanks very much guys Goatee:alcoholic: |
Re: TJ or JK
Please go with the TJ, I wheel with a bunch of JK's and they are no where near as manuverable through tight sections as my TJ, plus they leave a scattered mess of plastic we are always picking up their broken plastic LOL. The V6 motors I do not trust, many a problem with those things and they aren't cheap to fix.

Re: TJ or JK
I test drove a 2007 Ruby, Lifted on 37's. What a piece of Garbage, no kick, I had to smash the peddle down just to get her going. I felt like I was looking out submarine windows when I tried to do a shoulder check.
My TJ is hands down better. If I could, I would love to buy a 2006 Unlimited Rubi !! |

Re: TJ or JK
sold my 98 tj to buy an 07 rubi . the 07 is way more civilized and comfortable to drive but nowhere near the fun the tj was .havent been wheelin yet but the jk is a lot wider and it's supposed to be 3 inches shorter it feels a lot bigger to drive . as for the 3.8 im just hopping for the best !!

Re: TJ or JK
Great thread....been following the dialouge. I go back and forth myself as my current car ages....Wife drives the JKU daily. The TJ does have many positives vs the JK for sure.
Does anyone see any issues with picking up a 06' TJ with say 50 or 60,000 Kms? I know low KMs is good....some lower milage Jeeps are a sign they were used only on the week-end. Would there be issues down the road with dried up seals due to poor lubrication. (don't use it ya' loose it type of thinking??) |
