Thumbs down Just had to re-learn a valuable Canadian Tire lesson...

Don't.

Ever.

Go.

There.

For ANYTHING!

Took my Cherokee in just after I bought it to get the front end checked out - I had some really bad front end drift going on. $100 later, and they tell me that the whole front end is nice and tight, so the problem might be in the steering box. I decided to let it ride for a while so I could save up the cash.

All of a sudden, there's a new clinky rattley noise coming from the front end whenever I engage 4x4.... sounded like they left a socket inside the hub or something. Had to wait for a bit to be able to go in and talk to them about it, so when I finally had the time this weekend, the idle relay decided to pack it in and give me even more reason.

This time, after $100 for a scope (when I knew what had died anyway - didn't matter to them) and a $14 part, they re-examined the front end, found a worn track bar (front end drift culprit) and told me that worn U-joints were the cause of the noise... that had never been there before they looked at it.

Here's where it gets even more fun. They tried to tell me that my battery was completely toast, so when I came in, I had them show me the test. 400 amps and 12V. Not perfect, but FAR from dead. Then, they put the battery back in, I paid my bill and left, only to hear a NEW noise start up about 500M away from the place. Stopped, popped the hood, and found that when they put the battery back in, they had broken the carrying strap off one side of the battery, and it was sticking into the rad fan.

TLDR - Crappy tire is useless, and will cost you about twice what a decent mechanic would because of what they break when they "fix" things. This was the Langley BC location for anyone who lives close. Avoid at ALL COSTS.

It's not the only place that does the same the same thing. It's a business, the more work they do and parts they sell, the more money they make. That's the reason the only person that works on my vehicles is me.
