4.2 stroker
hi l just bought a 4.2 stroker for my 87 yj and wondering if am going to have to beef up anything else or should it be good just the way it is

Ditch the Dana 35 if you have or have plans to go bigger than 30 inch tires. As long as its a mild stroker(and a 4.2 most likely is) it should be fine with the AX15(standard transmission) however the YJ wasn't blessed with the AW4 found in the XJ if you have an auto.
The 231 would probably be ok as long as its in good shape. So moral of the story? new rear axle, new ujoints all around, possibly a standard transmission swap and you should be good. Thats assuming you already had a 4.2/4L drivetrain in there. If you had the 4cyl then well you're going to need new rear axle, ujoints, transmission and possibly a transfercase(not sure on the spline count differences) Congrats on picking up a kick ass motor btw. Nothing better than a stroked 4.2L |

thanks for the info and yes l have a five speed in it already and it was a 4.2 in it aswell just got old.and had no settyup and go anymore

should be ok as long as you dont drop the clutch too much. However with a 250hp engine under your right foot you'll probably end up dropping it quite a bit. lol.
