Michigander
hello all, I am a avid orv guy. I have a 93 cherokee with 33s and winch. I am looking for good areas with in a couple days drive of Michigan to do some exploring and wheeling. Any recommendations would be appreciated. If this post is in the wrong place please let me know. Also any laws in Canada I should know of regarding 4x4s?
Thanks
Thanks
Hey,
There are lots of spots around Sault Ste Marie, Ontario though I'm not particularly familiar with them. The bulk of north eastern trails are in the Kawartha, Bobcaygeon, etc area you can google.
That said, I'm in Windsor and would love advice (and company) to hit some Michigan trails.

We have a couple good resources, http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,4570,7...8330--,00.html (will list every state run trail in the state)
We also have a couple National forests http://www.fs.usda.gov/activity/hmnf/recreation/ohv
And there is also one in the UP.
Also check out Greatlakes4x4 (good forum)
SIlver lake sand dunes, If sand is your kinda thing
Drummond island of course, Um for quick trips or just a stop along the way there is Mount Morris you can google by Flint there a scramble area essentially and charge like $6 a day, Last time I was there they where building a rock course with boulders though. Michigan you need a ORV tag for your truck and are sold on the first website listed or anywhere here that sells hunting licenses last year they where $16.
Would love to go on some trail runs, but I am currently in Afghanistan and planning for the future.

Made a Michigan UPee trip a couple of years ago, Drummond Island was a hoot, but bring a GPS
cause the trails just go on and on and on with no signage. Copper Harbour on the peninsula is
another great place for wheelin'. Got a guided tour from the Cherokee Owners club to northern most point of Michigan, the real one, not where the pavement ended!
