Hey, I'm new to the forum and I need help!

i have an 88 inline 6, 4 litre who has a bad oil leak. its at the back of the engine and is leaking down on to my exhaust. I was told either my engine or tranny would need to come out to fix this (i realize without seeing the engine you couldnt say) my question is 1) have any of you had experience with this
2) how did you go about fixing it
3) I live in toronto (east end) do you know of any good mechanics in the area?

oil leaking onto your exhaust sounds more like your valve cover is leaking.
A leaking rear engine seal usually just leaves a puddle under your jeep.

 

I was wondering what oil everyone thinks is the best to use in a 2000 jeep cherokee 4.0 with 86000 miles.

 

i use mobil 1 synthecit in my 2000 gc with 4.7 and 176000 miles on it don't use any oil betwen changes

I would agree with that it sounds like you have a bad valve cover gasket going on I had this and it ran straight onto the exhaust at the second bend couldn't smell it untill I stopped. easy fix to do yourself.
