I just picked up a 2000 Cherokee sport, to drive around as I take my
time rebuilding my YJ right (tired of busting rear r&p's in it). What
is the largest tire that will fit without a lift? All the ads i keep
seeing say i need a #$^&#$#&$&^# 3 inch lift just to pop 31's on it.
Thanks

P235's are max.
A Cherokee can go amazing places with those sized tires. We have been
way back in and had ATV's figuring there 'must' be a new way in, we even
have running boards....

Mike's comment that Cherokees can get through some amazing terrain with that
size tire is right on. I see the local Park Rangers in their Jeep Cherokees
going up rocky desert terrain that scares many less-experienced CJ and
Wrangler owners. :)

Sounds about right. I had 265 or 275s on there and they rubbed like crazy
just going into parking lots -- not to mention turning.
Lots of lift needed for anything bigger -- and trimming too.
