Looking for winters as i plan on doing some traveling and my stock BFGs MTs are not a smart tire for driving on icy roads. Looking at the Yoko Geolander IT G072s.. got a price of $185 a tire for 265 70 17s.. any recommendations/ ideas/ comments/ feedback..........
Forget the winters... anyone know of any shops that sipe tires

Not in montreal but you can buy the tools to do it yourself. Keep in mind LT rated tires are exempt from the winter tires law.

I'm running bfg MT KM2s in the summer and winter.

 

Go get some Goodyear Duratracs. A lot of fans for this tire. I just bought 5. Goodyear has a 80$ rebate right now on these. I can't wait for snow.

 

The LT deal in Que is till 2014 then the sh... hits the fan. It ott to be interesting to see how there going to get big trucks to put on winter tires.

 

The MT stock rubber is not good for the winter?

 

Thankfully I'll be out of Quebec before I need to worry about that. lol

The stock MTs are fine if you know how to drive with low traction in the winter. Most people however pretty much REQUIRE winters to not drive into poles lol.

I suggest winters if you're in a size that can actually get winters regardless of skills because when the idiots DO eventually cut you off it'll help a lot.

 

I often wonder on Ontario will adpot the winter tire law? Very least Toronto, for those that need them to stay out of my rear bumper LOL (some can't drive a red hot stake into a snow bank)
Provided you drive for the conditions, the stock AT's on the Sahara hook up pretty good for a stock tire....Track-Loc LSD helps too :)

 

thanks for all the feedback... LTs are good until 2012 in Quebec according to my sources however MTs with no siping = bad idea for driving on icy roads. I don't care how "good" a driver you are, once you hit a patch of black ice with MTs, its like skating with sneakers. I was looking at the Duratracs from Goodyear as well and they have a great promotion right now, its just hard to find the sizes in stock.
I might just get some used winters as i plan on upgrading to 35s for the summer/offroad season and I'm not made out of money so it'll save me a few bucks

 

www.tirerack.com always has them in stock. I've yet to find a local dealer in Montreal that sells ANY tire size useful to us nevermind at a remotely reasonable price.

Prior Tire in Arnprior is pretty sweet though. You'd have to travel to the Ottawa area though but for the savings its completely worth it.
