Superlift 4" lift kit. Getting the guide bolt lined up
Hi all,
I'm trying to get my first leaf spring on and trying to get the guide bolt
on the upper aspect of the leaf spring in that guide hole on the axle. It's
becoming a real Bee-atch. Can anyone give me any hints on how to get that
puppy in there? I have the vehicle supported on the side I'm working on.
I'm using a floor jack to lift the spring and I'm using a chain tied to the
other lift spring to guide the leaf spring laterally (wrap the chain around
both springs, insert a breaker bar and twist to draw the loose spring in).
I tried it with the front shackle attached and with the front shackle
un-attached and I still can't get the damn thing in there.
I'm up for suggestions.

I got it!!! I got it!!! I just needed to jack up the axle to get it
aligned right.
Now another problem. On the lower plate which the U-bolts bolt into and
which holds the leaf spring to the axle there is a center Hole which the nut
from the bottom of the leaf spring pack is suppose to go into. Mine does
not fit into that hole so it leaves a gap between the plate and the leaf
spring. The only thing I can figure I need to do is grind out the plate so
the nut from the bottom of the leaf spring pack fits into it. I'm guessing
I'm going to have to do this on every plate.
Did anyone else have this problem or can offer advice? Trailmarker, I know
you had the same lift kit. Did you have this problem?

I put this lift on my '83 CJ-7 and yes, I had to grind out the spring plate
for the larger-than-stock bolt to fit through.
