dumbest question ever?

So, are all the yj suspension and drive trains interchangeable? Can i replace the drive line from a 4.0 with that of a 4 cylinder?
Dumb question, Im sure, but any help is appreciated. Ive just bought my first jeeep and am clueless.

For the most part... yes. Most 4 cyl have 4.11's in the diff's. 6cylinders had 3.0 or 3.55's mostly. 207 231 transfer cases... auto to manual tranny's some of the output, and inputs were different. 5 speed tranny's ,, were 2 designations mostly. AX15 or Puegot's.. The puegot broke reverse/5th gear a lot.Just be careful what you buy for replacement parts, or off Ebay. Make sure the vehicle is the same, for the most part. Or ask to see it visually (if this is possible). Sorry if the answer seems vague.. I guess narow down your question, to what you may be looking to do.
