'95 YJ ( first jeep)

Hi. I'm in Kelowna, BC and was hoping I'd find someone who might be able to point me to a place I can get used parts. I'm looking for both mirrors and some tow hooks. I have spent a lot of time online, but haven't found what I'm looking for. If anyone has a tip I'd sure appreciate it.

...why not get your tow hooks at canadian tire? they got 10,000lb rated hooks w/ a year warranty for $25/ea...

...as for the mirrors, take another stroll thru the wreckers and look for any cool mirrors you could modify to mount on your yj... get creative. it'll give it a more personal look too...

Re: '95YJ parts question

This is my first jeep and I love it! 2.5ltr 5 speed 4x4 w/ hard top and bikini top. This isn't going off road however. It's not really my thing. I work security, mostly static sites and some of them are really muddy. My plans are to put some flood lamps on the front and replace the headlights with something better. Having extra light is a definite plus as I work in some sketchy areas and bright light is often a deterrent.

So far I've put some extra light in the interior using a LED light mounted to the hard top, stretched a couple of bungee cords across the cabin for hanging work related crap, a 3 outlet power source mounted on the side of the center console, a 300 watt 12v power inverter mounted to the console lid and my HAM radio mounted to the front of the console just in front of the gear shift. I also bolted on a couple of 11000lb d-rings on the front bumper.

I would like a little bigger of a tire than the 15's on it. Anyone know if I can go bigger without having to do a lift kit? I'm really not mechanically inclined and lift kits are beyond me.

Thanks for any suggestions/thoughts.

Jonathan

Re: '95YJ parts question

just curious... why do you need tow hooks if you have D-rings?

sounds like a pretty decent rig.... you should post a few pics so we can check it out.

Re: '95YJ parts question

The d-rings were cheaper and better rated than the tow hooks. I didn't even give d-rings a thought until I saw them at CT. I'll get some pics up soon as I can.

Took a few pics. Hopefully they give you an idea of what I've done. Please excuse the disarray. I spend 35 hours a week in it so I do what I can when I have spare time at work.

Just some orange nylon rope. Hated the 80's leather wrap so I got rid of it tonight.

The switch between the console and the radio is for powering up the auxillary power. The auxillary power adapter is attached on the side of the console. Just at the bottom of the picture.

12v to 110v 300 watt converter. I zip tied it in place as I didn't feel like putting screw holes in the lid. It stays in place even when the jeep rocks around.

Nice looking JEEP. If you don't belong to an offroading club I would suggest looking around and joining one even if you cannot go offroading as often as you wish too. The idea is get with other fellows and they just might be able to help u in locating parts you wish to upgrade your JEEP with. Here's a site you will find some clubs in BC, I did notice one in/around your area, not saying its still there but worth a look see. The site you will have to click on Canada then BC and scale down though a bunch from BC
