89 YJ 4.2L Head Gasket
 

So here's the deal, never had a jeep before but I'm thinking of grabbing one for a winter vehicle. I'm looking at a 1989 YJ with the 4.2 and an auto tranny. The bad is possibly the rear body mounts, the drivers seat belt mount and a blown head gasket. The body stuff is easy enough to fix but what should I do about the head ? It does come with another 89 parts jeep that supposedly has a good motor with a standard tranny. Should I just change the head gasket and hope for the best or swap the motor right out ? If so, would I have all the parts I need between the two ?

did you check if indeed the head gasket is blown ?

does it leak coolant outside the block , does it blow air bubbles in the rad?

if indeed it`s blown , it is easy to fix ....

they wree more prone to have the intake bolts turn loose ...
