4x4 no working properly
I have 95 YJ and the 4x4 is acting strange. In 4x4 high, when turning the front wheels seem to be binding or not turning properly at low speed. It does not happen all the time, but has happened twice now. Any suggestions? Thoughts?

Re: 4x4 no working properly
If you have front diff joints like ujoints try checking them first

Re: 4x4 no working properly
My 98 cherokee does the same thing. I changed both U-joints and it still does it.

Re: 4x4 no working properly
If you're in 4X4 on dry pavement it could be nothing more than a case of crow hopping
Each of your wheels rotates on a different radius to the turning circle, so each wheel travels at different distances and speeds. If the vehicle's front and rear axles are locked together and are turning on dry surfaces, the difference in wheel speed sometimes results in driveline binding that is released with a “bang” or vehicle “shudder” when one of the tires loses traction. If you're using your 4X4 on dry pavement, I'd cease and desist. |
