Toyo Open Country vs. Mickey Thompson MTZ????

I am putting a 2.5" aev lift (that's the decision at the moment) on my 2012 Unlimited Wrangler JK (Sahara) in the spring . . .

I've come to the conclusion that I am deciding between the Toyo's and MIckey's for tires . . . due to aggressive looks paired with great reviews for mud and trail but also get great reviews for long life on the street . . .

I'm planning on running 35/12.50/R18

Which Tire is better? Anybody have actual experience with either? opinions are great too . . . please include how you used them if you have experience with them . . . I won't be hardcore rock crawling or driving on gravel regularly . . . mostly street driving and some weekend trails/mudding.

THANKS! :D

Ya, not an easy decision, I'm in a similar boat, going with a max size of 33 X 12.5 X 17, and a max 2" lift.
I've been doing alot of homework on this topic, it's the biggest upgrade one can do to their Jeep, so you want to get it right.

I'm sure others will chime in with more experience, but my 2 cents:

-the Toyo's are one of the more heavy tires out there vs.s other M/T
-sounds like your needs are close to mine...DD, light trails no hardcore rock krawlin....be honest with yourself, the aswsome looks of a chunky M/T with its added weight, shorter tread life, and a bit more road noise....VS...an A/T with longer tread life, shave a few pounds of the total weight, less rolling resistance. YUUUUP it hurts.

There are tires that IMO are in between, the Goodyear Duratrac, or the Mickey T ATZ (NOT THE ATZ PLUS)

I'm leaning to the Mickey T ATZ's...you need to see them in person, they look much better in person. Put them side by side to a MTZ or your Toyo of choice.

Happy shopping

I have had both and I liked both. They are similar in off-road situations but I found the Toyo to be a bit noisier (no measured) than the MTZ's.

MTZ's are cheaper to purchase.....

We sell alot of ---- Cepek FCII's and all the JK owners really like them. Wear well, quiet(er) and long(er) lasting.
