Off-road with WJCraig is a lot of fun but potentially expensive
1 Attachment(s)
Been having a great time getting dirty and going places I didn't think I could go in a stock Commander.
Had this little light come on the dash and the code read "catalytic converter bank 2" So I had my mechanic take a look......... some damned fool took his luxury SUV off-road and ended up crushing his muffler (which he replaced with a smaller Flowmaster) and apparently, cracked a very expensive Cat converter which blew the O2 sensor. Problem solved with the installation of a lift kit, a new O2 sensor and a welded Cat converter....after also blowing and replacing the passenger side strut. new muffler = $200 installed lift kit = $200 parts new struts = $500 installed new O2 sensor and Cat fix = $300 Seeing Beautiful BC scenery from the many 4X4 trails = Priceless Attachment 218 |

All these trails and the best pic you have is of a slash pile? :lol_hitting:
I guess we'll have to go out and find some more places to play where you can get a decent photo! There was a nice one near where we camped on the weekend that goes right down to the beach. Now that you've got a little more room under your ride, it's probably somewhat possible! Now, about those tires...:cheeky4: Oh, and here's a better pic for now... Attachment 4922 or http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/w...arrison030.jpg As for being expensive...This one almost cost me a couple of body panels! Attachment 4923 Attachment 4924 You can't really see in the pic, but the ground under me kind of gave way and I slid into the little stream there and just about into the rock wall, which the wife took a pic of since it was staring her right in the face... Attachment 4925 Good times! |

Re: Off-road with WJCraig is a lot of fun but potentially expensive
So, when are we gonna go try out the new parts then?

Re: Off-road with WJCraig is a lot of fun but potentially expensive
Michelle is a little gun shy after this last $800 so I am not sure. I want to go out this weekend but it would have to be somewhere mild.
I am going fishing in Kamloops next weekend but maybe the weekend after? Unless I can talk her into this weekend, she wants to try it we just can't afford to put any more money out right now for repairs |
Re: Off-road with WJCraig is a lot of fun but potentially expensive
If you decide you're gonna go out and play, I can go tomorrow. Got football on Sunday, so can't go then. There's always Stave or Sylvester for mild stuff that's not too far. Eagle Ridge too, but there's not nearly as much there compared to heading east...
Anyway, if you decide you want to head out, you've got my cell #. If you'd rather wait a couple of weeks, that's cool too. Oh, I've still got somebody's jacket too, if you want to swing by and grab it, otherwise, I can give it to you next time I see you. Now, I've got to get back to my frosty beer! Later. |
Re: Off-road with WJCraig is a lot of fun but potentially expensive
Frosty beer......Bastard!
I better not go out tomorrow, haven't even paid for my last oops yet but I will call tomorrow and maybe I can pop out and grab that jacket |
Re: Off-road with WJCraig is a lot of fun but potentially expensive
The Commander looks great Kitkat, just let the wife run it through the same spot she scraped the front end on last time and that should convince her that it's all good. lol

Re: Off-road with WJCraig is a lot of fun but potentially expensive
She is definately convinced that we need tires.......all we need now is the money to buy them!
And I think I am going to have to replace one cat converter because the light came on again on Friday as I was heading away fishing and it sounds like I may have loose ceramics in the cat....this will be expensive. |

Or maybe you need a sensor?
Anyway, Question: Where did you get your exhaust, and how much? As for needing money, I hear ya! I recently fixed my A/C issue, and now it's time for some brakes. That's probably what I'll be up to this Saturday... Anyway, here's some pics from last weekend..Didn't get many, but here's a couple we did get...
