Default wheel spacers

looking to ------ out my wheel base. i like the rims i have even though they are the factory rims that come with the columbia edition. am wondering why all jeep sites that i have seen only have the 1.5" wheel spacer. is there a mechanical reason for this? or maybe they just dont sell that many 2" wheel spacers. am looking to get my tires as wide as possible without damaging anything.

I think the reason is, if you push the wheels out too far you have a chance at damaging the bearings.

the rims that are on the jeep have the hub set 2 3/4" back from the face of the rim. with the 2" wheel spacer i will have the hub set 4 3/4" back from the face of the rim. is this to far? if i remember correctly isnt that what a lot of people recommend when buying new rims?

Yes 4.3/4 is the norm on offset rims, but remember that's a rim not rim plus a spacer as "gargyle"
mentioned going to far out will cause strain on ur bearings, that said u take ur chance or buy something of an above rim set in that position. Some will swear by spacers, I won't buy them.

thanks guys. beings that 4 3/4 is the norm and i find rims that are 15x7 with a 4 3/4 set back i dont think that i am pushing the envelope. atleast not far if i am so i am going to go with the 2" spacers. if it blows up in my face ill post my failure so no one else has to make the same mistake. thanks again
