Undercoating

Hi all. I just bought an '03 TJ and was wondering if anyone got there's undercoated or oiled before Winter? This one is very clean underneath and I don't want it to start rusting.

Hey ! I had our 09 Wrangler X for a couple weeks now and was wondering the same thing. I think I'm at least going to oil the frame rails threw all the holes in it and tilt the Jeep to run it back and forth. It can't hurt and after wheeling I like to spray water in all the places mud and stuff collect.

I also have an 03 tj and last year was the first time I had it undercoated, I tired Krown here in Montreal and they did a very nice job, the price was very nice too (very reasonable) Its sorta an oily spray they use and it will drip for weeks after, get it down and don't wash it I had it done just b/4 winter and in the spring it was still dripping under the hood. There are others but if I have it done again I will go back to the same place.

found this years ago

Or use some POR15 or some bed coating ... took a wire brush to my frame, cleaned it, then sprayed the bugger down. 15 bucks ... 1/2 work.. !!

I own a 2000TJ and was undercoated every year, i just bought it this year and kept up with the treatments. I had a free coupon for 150$ from Sarkis Auto Body in New Brunswick so i got it done, they used thick stuff but did a real good job.

make sure the frame is clean I bought a yj out of BC and it looked good but under the undercoating it was in poor shape now I just keep it painted so I can see the rust spots

Hi YJ818

If you plan on keeping your jeep for a while and driving it in the winter...most definatly have it undercoated yearly. Especially if they apply salt on the roads where you live.

I apply Prolab Technolube once a year on my NB driven 03' and it seems to be keeping the cancer in check. There are lots of good rust inhibitor products out there and you can do the work yourself with an air compressor and the right spray gun...

Cheers
