TJ Sway Bar Link Suggestions
 

Hi All
New to forum, but have been a Jeep owner for 14 years. Current Jeep I own is a TJ 4.0l Sport. Absolutely love it! My question is simple and am looking forward to the suggestions and recommendations I might receive, so thanks in advance.
A have been going through sway bar link arms at a good rate. About a pair every year. The Jeep's suspension and lift are stock, and my off-roading is not "hard core" by any stretch. I've been replacing the link arms with stock Jeep replacements, but at $80 pop I'm starting to feel a little robbed!
I've been doing some internet research, and it seems everybody is going to links with poly bushings (as opposed to rubber).
Any thoughts, or other recommendations? Also a Canadian dealer I can get them at?

Can be obtained at most any offroading store, try national4wd.com for their toll free line. I have an 03 tj and haven't been going though any yet, don't understand why yu should be??

I just went through some link issues myself on my 03'and may be able to offer some input. Couple of questions though.

Is it the front or rear end links which are going out on you? Are they actually breaking or are the bushings just getting sloppy?

Its the front links, and its only the bushings that go. So far I haven't, nor do I expect to break any links.

Welcome to the forum.
The stock links are inferior to most aftermarket models,and some are cheaper.
Personally I installed a set of JKS quick disconnects which I bought at National4wd for like 100$.

I built my own, 3 years ago and no issues. Cost was about 80 dollars in all.

Couldn't be happier.

i had the same problem with my 05 every year lol!
anyway when you order 05 tj bushings the parts store sell the ball and socket type, the sway bar just pulls on them till they pop out, it's just a bad design simple as that.
i had an 95 grand cherokee that had diffrent style, it was straight with a nut and two bushings at the top, when it broke it was about 5 years and it broke at the weld where it was rusted, but 5 years is good for links.
so when i went to get new links the last time for my tj i thought i'd ask to see the links for the 95 grand
and they were the same size as the 05 tj so i put them on, its been a year or so seems fine no noises or signs of ware, it cost 22 bucks for the box and it comes with two sway bar links.
also i changed the torx head bolt at the bottom to a normal hex bolt after snaping the head off one and breaking a few #55 torx a few years ago changeing the links, the dealer wanted 30 bucks for that bolt so i went to bafasco and got two stainless steel hex bolts for like 5 bucks,the hex bolts are easier to deal with, torx is good for small things not big things.
make sure you get stainless steel hex bolts i got zinc ones the first time, then when the links broke again the zinc nuts were rusted to the bottom bushing of the link, i had to cut both nuts off with the quick cut. this time i used stainless and a year later they still move.
i sprayed them with greese anyway lol i spray the hell out of everything on the bottom of my jeep greese.
