I would like to replace the factory cassette deck in my '99 TJ with a CD player, preferably with an mp3 input but not necessary. Nothing fancy. I would prefer a newer factory head unit if possible because I don't want to draw attention to it, the top and doors are off whenever possible during the summer. Any suggestions?

Look ard CTC or Bestbuy/Future shop. I have a Clarion DB 365/usb (not mp3) but am satisfied with it and the front panel can be removed for security. Ck their website for newer models

 

Asking which head unit to put into your Jeep is like asking which way to Moab! So many different choices for you. You can get many security options to cover or hide your new head unit. Alpine makes fantastic head units. Keep in mind though, with a new head unit, they usually have more output power than factory. This makes the sound quality of the factory speakers suffer because they can't handle the extra power. For another couple hundred bucks you can usually replace the speakers as well without going to extremes.

 

Watch out for the mud in your system if you offroad topless!!! lol
