spring spacers

I found on ebay a set (4) of 3 inch spring spaces and was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on them. my TJ is my DD and i did not figure that i wanted anything too excessive. would i need adjustable arms to correct axle angles?

They're ok,but make sure you check your brake lines, you might need longer ones.

Something else to chk out - When you put these spacers in your shocks my be stretched out - so there are 2 ways to remedy this either go buy new shocks longer than originals (if your raising it 3 in - then you will need shock that are 3" longer than what you have now) or take some small boxed steel and place them at the top of your shocks and pass the bolts though them - (3" boxed steel) to give u that extra length. Use some "Blaster" or "Release-all" on the bolts at the top of your shocks for a couple of days to loosen them or your going to break then off - no fun having to drill out the bolt.
Be real careful when putting those spacers in - springs can eat fingers -

Re: spring spacers

I figured on using the square tubing as a shock extension. My one concern is would i be lifting it enough to worry about axle alinement, as in needing adjustable control arms. Also would a 3" lift pack be enough to concern myself with a SYE kit?

Re: spring spacers

SYE is always a good idea, but not necessary in this case. You might want to consider lowering the t/case an inch to help with the rear d/s angle. Axle angles should not be a problem unless it starts doing the shake of death. If that happens you can increase the caster by installing a snail-cam adjuster on the front lower link.

Re: spring spacers

I'm in the process of installing a 2" lift (with spacers and new shocks). If you follow the instructions (available from Zone's website) and drop the axles, the springs just fall out. However, looking back, I'm not sure I'd use spacers again - I know what everyone says - but I just feel that new (longer) springs would have been a better option. IMO.
