Rough Idle, CEL, and sparadick Cluster when warm out

Hey all, been trying to trouble shoot this but i cant figure it out. When its warm out, ie, like today, over 10 degrees. My 99 tj runs horrid, actually, doesnt even run for that matter. right from when you start it, horribly rough idle, CEL comes on, sporadic cluster, speedometer, tack, gas gauge just go wild. Cant even really drive it because it chokes out or backfire. Curious as the whether anyone has heard of anything like this before. any help appreciated! Thanks!

Surely its popping engine codes if it runs as bad as you make it sound,
is the check engine light on?
Can you get the codes?

Did you check your plugs and wires?
Battery connections?

Well checking the codes thrown here,
myjeeptj.com » Blog Archive » 1998-2006 Jeep TJ Diagnostic Codes
I would start with the Cam Position Sensor or the Crank Position Sensor,
you can find an exploded diagram of your jeep at
Just Jeeps

good luck...

Re: Rough Idle, CEL, and sparadick Cluster when warm out

well, checked all the connections to and from the CPS and they all looked good. the only thing i did find was one of the big plugs going to the ecu, the middle on to be specific was absolutely covered in oil. I got the feeling that with all the oil in the plug something had to be shorting out. anyways, cleaned that off, reset ecu and ran better. I get the feeling its just a matter of time before it comes back tho. will keep posted.
