Default Newbie with a 2000 tj

Hey guys good to be on this site.
I recently bought a 2000 tj. I had a few questions.
The Jeep is in good mechanical conditions but has a few things to tweek.

The glove box is missing the latch

The drivers side door, key lock seems to be sticking. When I open it with the key it sometimes does not open, I have to leave the key in and turned to open the door but once I pull out the key the lock locks again.

The hood rattles when driving on the highway.

My questions are; can anybody recommend a decent mechanic, in the GTA region?
And where can I buy Jeep parts and accessories?

Also on the side note. I do not drive like a maniac but I have spun out of control 3 times already so right now I leave the jeep in 4wheel drive otherwise I feel like I am going to get into a accident. Is the back simply to light?

Welcome, I don't know about the GTA but a good Web Site is national4wd.com. As for spinning out of control, what shape are your tires in? I have being driving Jeeps for more than 12 years an 81 CJ for 7 years and a 2001 TJ since new. I have only spun out of control once, on Black ice on a bridge with all season tires that were so worn I should have taken them off before winter.

Why are you spinning out? Like on ice? If so then it would be your tires.

As for the door lock , put some oil in it and turn it a few times. If that doesn't work , then i don't know.

Missing latch isn't that much of a big deal , try looking on ebay for a latch. For the hood , take a look and see where it is rattling , if you can find where it is happening then you should be able to fix it. Couldn't be loose or what not.

Thanks.
As for the spinning, I figured it out, the one tire was extremely under inflated causing the spin out. The hood, well its the 2 laches they are stretched out. I am sure I will be able to find some replacements on one of the jeep sites.
I bought the manual for my jeep so now I am going to try and do few maintance by myself and learn a little but more.

Driving a Jeep requires more care than a car/truck with traction control and/or anti lock brakes.
Best advice, slow down and pay attention to everything going on around you.
There are a lot of boneheads out there.
