Help - Exhaust manifold/bolt problem

So clearly the cracking exhaust manifold/bolt snapping is a common problem with Jeep TJs.
Does anyone know of a vendor who sells replacement kits (exhaust manifold, gasket, and bolts) which are superior to OEM? Preferrably a Cdn Vendor :)

Thanks

G,
Not familiar with "kits" as such but have you tried:
Valley Hardware
Malmberg
http://www.hosieandbrown.com/index.html
Young's Speed Shop (496 Gladstone Ave. (623) 232-4869.)
Hope this helps a bit...Peter

Awesome, thanks for the reply.
I will try those places.

If anybody has anymore info/experience with this apparent common problem please feel free to share

Re: Help - Exhaust manifold/bolt problem

G,
You're welcome. There's another place on Wellington that I can't remember the name of right now but when my wife gets home I'll ask her (she used to pick up parts for me).
See, there's an advantage to fill in your profile (where you're at, kind of ride etc.)

Re: Help - Exhaust manifold/bolt problem

G,
Wife came through again! I used to get parts for various pieces of equipment (not a Jeep per se, but they do have a lot of stuff) at Acklands-Grainger. They used to be on Wellington but have moved to 3020 Hawthorne Rd. ((613) 744-5012. You might give them a try.
Just a thought, but could you use a hex-head cap screw instead of a stud? You can buy THOSE in various grades of hardness. The only problem I can see with doing this is that engine studs usually have coarse threads that go into the block and fine threads you put nuts onto. You get a better torque on the fine threads.

Re: Help - Exhaust manifold/bolt problem

I've actually heard of Acklands-Grainger! Thanks for the info.
Hopefully this job won't cost too much. I just recently bought this Jeep and so far so good but the exhaust noise is starting to get annoying so I'd like to fix it. Plus I heard mpg is worse with a leaky exhaust manifold.
If the studs are indeed the problem i'll be sure to replace them with a grade far superior to stock
