Heating Controls

I have a '03 TJ and only have two speeds working on my heating controls, low and high. Can I fix this by cleaning the contacts or will I have to replace the controls?
Thanks.

Same problem here, I was told once it's broken you can't fix it, the least expensive I found the part to fix it was $85. No Jeeps ever make it to the scrapyard where I'm from.

Found out it was the AC and heater blower resister...dealership wanted $98 for the part and $90 to install it, but found it Partsource for $27 and it took me a whole 15 minutes to change it out.

My 98 Tj is the same, only the two highest positions work. Worst part of jeeps is the wiring harness, IT'S CRAP! Chrysler sourced all of it's wiring harness from Mexico, they are made of second grade copper.

Quick tip, take off the resistor and clean it with brake cleaner and reinstall. 99% of the time it works like new. I have to do it atleast twice a year in my Ranger because its poorly placed.

I replaced mine on my xj and also did it on this 03 tj. Not expensive if you do it yourself and as stated above its not a hard job.
