front axle
It all started with my 4x4 light not lighting up when in 4x.
so i was not sure if my jeep was or was not in 4x. After checking the forums I "assumed" that i had a vacuum controlled split shaft front axle. So i dug some more and found some vac diagrams. Armed with this new knowledge i crawled under my jeep only to find that i don't have a vacuum actuator... now what?? so what kind of front disconnect does a TJ have if any?? any ideas why the 4x4 light does not work? |
Re: front axle
^ bulb burned out?
|
Re: front axle
there is no axle disconnect on a TJ everything turns all the time.the switch for the 4wd light is on the transfer case
|
Re: front axle
A TJ has a manual disconnect-it's your transfer case shifter located at your right knee by the console.
hence "part time 4WD" |
Re: front axle
could be the light, maybe the switch on the t case, bad ground wire.
Does it shift into 4WD? and 4 LO? |
Re: front axle
4x all work including low. so i figured i would try the easiest ... check the dash light. found it to be burnt. all good now! went to dealer to get a dash bulb and got him to run the vin # as i was courious to find what gearing i had. found out that i have 5.35 with a dana 44 in the rear and stock limited slip!! guess that is one thing off the list to do!!
