Drive shaft confusion help
My confusion is this: I need to replace my rear drive shaft on my '98 Tj 6cyl 5speed, I've picked up a new one (to me) but I think it was out of a 4cyl, the reason being is it is about 1 1/2" longer than the one currently on the Jeep. From centre cap to centre cap on the shaft only (no slip yoke) mine is 12", the new one is 13 1/2". Now my question is can I use the longer shaft without having problems with the slip yoke at the Tcase? Or do I need to use the slip yoke that came on the new shaft which I do believe is shorter? :confused:I don't want to Jam the slip yoke into the Tcase when my rear suspension compresses nor do I want it coming off when it flexes out. The Jeep has a 4" susp lift with a tcase drop.If I removed the tcase drop would that free up any space for the slip yoke with the longer shaft? Finding any info on the length of stock driveshafts has been a daunting task, all seem to be a different length and I have not been able to find anything at all on the web that will help me in this situation.

Re: Drive shaft confusion help
I got it figured out, I'm going to have to get the new shaft shortened, it's not going to work any other way.
