Disable parking brake warning sound
Anybody know how to disable the parking brake warning sound? Whenever I engage the parking brake I get a warning sound (like a seat belt warning sound) and it last like 5 secs. Not sure why it does that but it's annoying.
Does anyone know how to track it down and bypass it? |
Re: Disable parking brake warning sound

Re: Disable parking brake warning sound
I would love to hear a warning beeper if I was driving with the brake on.
I don't want to hear it when I'm setting the brake. I would track down that chime and just bypass it. |
Re: Disable parking brake warning sound
I don't even have a warning sound just the light on the dash.

Re: Disable parking brake warning sound
I stole this from jgorm on JF but it should answer your question. You will probably have to remove your center console and bend the copper tab up so the circuit never closes (see pic), or unplug the connector, or just cut the wire. I'm pretty sure its an open circuit when the lever is up. If not, ground the cut wire.

Cool, thanks!
I'm assuming this will also disconnect the brake indicator light on the instrument panel. |

Re: Disable parking brake warning sound
disabling the switch will defintly kill the light on the dash the light will still work for other issues,ie loss of fluid pressure

Re: Disable parking brake warning sound
I think on mine, ('06 TJ sport) if you stop for around 3 seconds and have the clutch in or something like that before you apply the park brake, the park brake chime will not sound.
I don't have time to wait the 3 seconds or whatever, I pull it when coming to a stop, or sometimes even to come to a stop or do a slide in the snow. I believe the chime is through the computer, no chime module to remove. It is far cheaper and easier to run several inputs to a computer and run one chime, than to have all the separate wiring and parts for several, kind of a bummer on new stuff. If you bypass one thing, you may bypass more than one. It is annoying, I agree, but it is more annoying changing burnt brakes and wheel cylinders when it is left on, I just tune out the beepety beep. The best way to stop that annoying noise is Riponred's way. Or crank the tunes?? |
