Canada 98 TJ speedometer

My 98 TJ 4 cyl does the craziest thing. Everytime i come to a complete stop... the speedometer will skyrocket to as far as it will go... somewhere past the 180km/h and then slowly float back down and work normal as I pick up speed again. Has anyone ever had this happen to them. Does anyone know how to correct it? Does anyone know what causes it at least?

Help me out.

Brad.

sounds like a possible loose wire. Your gonna have too rip the instrument panel out.. its pretty easy about 14 screws ... clean all your connections.

Otherwise never had that problem
