Hello, I'm a newbie to this whole jeep thing. I've come across this jeep. Just wanted to know if you guys think the price is alright and if there is anything I should watch out for.

Make sure it hasn't been wheeled to death. Check everything very carefully.

Crawl under there and look for beaten skid plates indicating heavy off road use.
And make sure it's a real Rubicon not a Rubiclone, because those decals are a dime a dozen on eBay.
If I was 17, I'd be concerned about maintenance and operating costs.

I agree with Riponred crawl underneath and check for cracked/bent frame, this has been used for offroading, take it out and try the ranges and gears. As this price is almost a gift. Either something badly wrong with it or the fellow is in desperate need of some quick cash.

Thanks for the replys, they are greatly appreciated. This jeep is about 5 hours away from where I live but all of my family live near the city the Jeep is located in, so having someone to look at it is no problem. I work part time at a garage and one of the mechanics said if I wanted to go look at it he would come along with me. Once I'm finished high school I'm planning on doing Mechanical engineering with the navy and I need a vehicle that I can use both during the winter and summer months. My dad mentioned I should look around for a jeep and seeings as I always wanted one, here is my chance. I will take what you guys said into consideration and I will have it closely looked at.

Five hours on a boat I'm guessing??
There's lot's of nice Jeeps for sale all the time all over the place.
Take the time to do the due diligence and you'll end up with the right one.
Don't rule out a nice stock Jeep for much cheaper.
It will leave you with a lot more cash in your pocket with which to do your own mods, and you'll have a clean slate to start with.

Nope, no boat. It's just on the opposite side of the province. I'm still looking around, this one just really caught my eye. I would like to be able to do all of my own mods but where I'm going to be in school next year I wont have much time or a place to do it.

Only issue is it is still a Jeep. Parts are not cheap and although the 44's are much stronger depending on how hard you wheel it, if it is a DD you need to be prepared for breakage.

Me personally i would pass on a modified Jeep like this. At least if you bought a stock one you know what you're working with and odds are it isn't beat up as hard. The price is right i think. I recently paid $13,500 for a 2004 Rubicon stock hard top & soft top. It's a buyers market as Jeep TJ's don't seem to be selling as fast as they used to be... economy ? price of gas? New ones are getting cheaper?
My thoughts are to pass on this one, get a stock one instead that's solid and well kept. Many Tj's are "second weekend vehicles" for many people so you can pick one up pretty much mint with low km's for a very good price these days. Best of luck!

X2 on buying a clean stock Jeep.
Find out what a stock Jeep can do first.
Then you'll have a better idea of what mods you really need.
